Spot Details
Hwy 87 - Park at the Idaho - Montana state line.
All land on the Idaho side is public, Targhee Nationa Forest. All land on the Montana side is private. However, on the east side of the road, two parcels are owned by the Nature Conservacy and we kite there with out any issues.
The wind meter run by the Montana DOT is about 1.5 miles north of the Pass. At times the meter will report nuking winds and the Pass is light or not kitable. Wind conditions here can change dramatically by going a half mile one direction or another.
Sometimes the Pass is light and the Henry's Lake Flats (6 miles away) is on. Sometimes its the opposite.
The season often lasts until mid May here.
Backcountry (skin-in or snowmobile) up the Antelope Basin Road is just north of the Pass. There's big country just out of view from the Pass.
